This Privacy Policy applies to the Meno mobile application ("Application"), available on iOS and Android, developed by the Meno team. By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

The short version: Meno doesn't require an account. Your profile, plans, favourites, and history are stored locally on your device. The only information that leaves your device is what's needed to generate your meal plan or recipe, sent to our AI meal-planning provider for that single request.

Information Collection and Use

The Application may collect certain information automatically when you download and use it, including:

Your device's IP address and device/OS model, as part of standard network requests
App settings and preferences, stored locally on your device
Standard diagnostic information the App Store or Google Play platform may collect on our behalf (e.g. crash counts), where enabled by your device settings

Meno does not currently use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Profile & Meal-Planning Data You Provide

What We Collect

Your name, country, currency, and preferred supermarket
Household size, cooking days, meal slots, cooking skill and time available, and appliances you have
Dietary requirements, allergies, dislikes, favourite cuisines, and preferred proteins
Your weekly food budget and what's already in your pantry
Meal plans, swapped meals, recipe steps, favourites, and shopping-list progress generated or saved within the app
Ratings or feedback you choose to submit, and any messages you send to support

How We Use This Data

To generate your personalized weekly meal plan, recipe steps, and swapped or discovered meals
To build your shopping list, priced and sorted by aisle for your chosen supermarket
To calculate your stats — cooking streak, cuisine breakdown, and spend against budget
To save your profile and preferences so you don't have to re-enter them each time
To respond to support requests you send us

Where Your Data Lives

Stored on your device:

Your profile, preferences, meal plans, favourites, shopping-list progress, and stats history are stored locally on your device using standard platform storage
We do not operate a user account system or a server-side database of your personal profile
If you delete the app, this locally stored data is removed from your device

Sent to our AI meal-planning provider:

When you generate or refresh a weekly plan, recipe, swap, or discovery result, relevant parts of your profile (e.g. budget, household size, dietary needs, allergies, pantry items) are sent to our AI meal-planning provider as part of that single request, in order to generate your result
This data is used only to produce the response for that request and is not linked back to your identity by us beyond what's necessary to serve that request

Third-Party Services

Meno keeps third-party services to a minimum. The Application currently uses:

An AI meal-planning provider, to generate weekly plans, recipes, swaps, and discovery results from your profile information
The Apple App Store or Google Play Store, to distribute the app and process subscription payments
Your device's native "rate this app" prompt, which does not share any data with us

If this changes — for example, if we introduce cloud sync, an account system, or analytics in a future update — we will update this policy and, where required, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.

Platform-Specific Information

iOS (Apple App Store)

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and App Store account
Apple may collect diagnostic and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy
iCloud backup may include locally stored app data if enabled on your device

Android (Google Play Store)

Subscriptions are managed through your Google account and Google Play
Google may collect diagnostic and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy
Google Drive backup may include locally stored app data if enabled on your device

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information in transit to our AI meal-planning provider, including transmitting requests over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Locally stored data on your device is protected by your device's own operating system and security settings.

Opt-Out & Deletion

You can stop data collection or delete your data at any time by:

Using "Erase all my data" in the app's Settings tab, which clears your locally stored profile, plans, favourites, and history
Uninstalling the application from your device
Contacting support to ask any questions about data we may hold in connection with support requests you've sent us

Data Retention

Locally stored data (your profile, plans, favourites, and history) remains on your device until you delete it in-app or uninstall Meno. We do not retain a copy of this data on our servers. Requests sent to our AI meal-planning provider are processed to generate your response and are not retained by us for longer than necessary to do so. Subscription records are retained by the App Store or Google Play provider in accordance with their own policies.

Age Restrictions

Age Requirement: Meno is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access to the personal data we process on your behalf
Correction of inaccurate data
Deletion of your data
Objection to or restriction of data processing

Since most of your data lives on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For anything else, contact us at the email address below.

International Data Transfers

When you generate a meal plan or recipe, your request may be processed in a country other than your own by our AI meal-planning provider. We take reasonable steps to ensure such processing is consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app.
